Retail market comments
'The number of hypermarkets in operation by the top retailers has remained flat over the past five years, primarily due to planning legislation which restricts store size and location. The majority of hypermarkets in Belgium are operated by Carrefour.'

'The biggest growth has come from supermarkets. It is forecast that there will be 160 more supermarkets in 2008 than in 2002.'
